Sue Royce, Gretchen Kah and Lisa Johnson all were part of the (Classic Racer #1) team this year to make the ARC possible and an amazing adventure. Gretchen and Sue departed Gnoss Field on June 11 at 7:30 a.m. and landed at Frederick, MD on June 15 at 2:30 p.m. 22 hours and you do not want to know how much gas!!Argg. But worth every penny!! Air Race Classic, Racer #1: Lisa and Sue departed on June 20 from Frederick, MD and landed at Santa Fe, NM on June 23. It was an incredible experience!! What we learned in navigation, weather and the Cherokee 180 was endless. There was great camaraderie between the over 100 women pilots participating in the race. The entire trip was a total of 5,530 miles and 57.5 hours on my Cherokee 180. She flew like a champ!! The fly-bys at the various timing points were full throttle and 200 ft. over the runways. I have to admit that was quite a thrill and slightly addictive. Cannot wait to do it again!!
